Fiber Pigtail Introduction

Fiber optic pigtail is a fiber optic cable terminated with a factory-installed connector on one end, leaving the other end terminated. Hence the connector side can be linked to equipment and the other side melted with optical fiber cables. Fiber optic pigtail are utilized to terminate fiber optic cables via fusion or mechanical splicing. High-quality pigtail cables, coupled with correct fusion splicing practices offer the best performance possible for fiber optic cable terminations. Fiber optic pigtails are usually found in fiber optic management equipment like ODF, fiber terminal box and distribution box.

Fiber Optic Pigtail Types

* By Fiber Type
Pigtails are divided into multi-mode pigtails and single-mode pigtails.
The multimode pigtail is orange, the wavelength is 850nm, and the transmission distance is 5Km, which is used for short-distance interconnection.
The single-mode pigtail is yellow, there are two wavelengths, 1310nm and 1550nm, and the transmission distance is 10km and 40km respectively.

*By Connector Type
pigtail interface can be divided into FC, SC, LC three kinds of interfaces, the two ends are: FC-FC, SC-SC, LC-LC, FC-SC, FC-LC, SC -LC, Total of six fiber jumper types.

*By the length of the interface
the pigtails are 1.5 meters, 2 meters, 3 meters, 5 meters, 10 meters, 15 meters and 20 meters.
